Group Discussion allows you to chat with up to 100 people at a time. This is a great way to keep in touch with family, friends or colleagues. Learn more about the function of the group discussion below:
You can create an unlimited number of groups. To create a group:
Open WhatsApp and go to the Discussions screen.
Top of the Discussions screen, tap the New button Group. Note: You will need to have an existing thread before creating a new newsgroup.
Enter a subject or title. It will be the name of the group visible to all participants.
Add participants to the group by selecting the + button or by typing the name of the contact.
Touch Create to finish creating the group.
Adding participants
You must be an administrator of the group to add participants to an existing group. A group can have up to 100 participants. To add the participants:
Open the Group Discussion.
Touch the subject of the group to open the Group Information screen.
Tap on the name of the participant you want to remove.
Touch Remove PARTICIPANT} {from the menu.
Assigning administrators group
All of the directors in the group can assign administrator status to a participant. A group can have an unlimited number of directors. To assign administrator privileges to a participant:
Open the Group Discussion.
Touch the subject of the group.
Touch on the participant you want to assign as the administrator.
Tap Assign Group Admin.
Changing the subject group
Any participant of the group can change the subject. To do this:
Open the Group Discussion.
Touch the subject of the group to open the Group Information screen.
Tap on the current topic.
When you have finished editing, tap Save.
Changing the group icon
Any group member can change the icon. To do this:
Open the Group Discussion.
Tap on the current group icon.
Tap Edit, then select Reset icon, Photographing, Select existing or search the Web to set the new icon.
Disabling group notifications
You can disable notification group for a certain period of time. You always receive messages sent to the group, but your phone does not alert you when messages are received. To mute the sound of a group:
Open the Group Discussion.
Touch the subject of the group to open the Group Information screen.
Tap Silence.
Select the time interval that you want your group in silence.
Abandonment of a group
If you leave a group, you will be removed (e) of the group, but you always see in your list of Discussions and can read chat history. If you are the sole administrator of the group and leave the group, one participant is randomly chosen to become the new director. To leave a group:
Open WhatsApp and go to the Chat screen.
Slide your finger on the group you want to leave from right to left.
Touch Quit and select Quit from the group menu.
Deleting a Group
After leaving a group, you will see the option to remove the group. When you delete the group, you will not see the group in the list of discussions and chat history will be erased. To delete a group:
Open WhatsApp and go to the Chat screen.
Slide your finger on the group you want to leave from right to left.
Touch Delete and select Delete Group from menu.
